Federal Emergency Management Agency officials on Tuesday opened a second disaster recovery center to assist Harris County residents whose homes or property were damaged during severe storms in May and Memorial Day flooding. Specialists from the U.S. Small Business Administration, nongovernmental organizations such as Red Cross and local community officials are also on hand to answer questions and provide information on the types of assistance available to those homeowners, renters and business owners affected by the storm. Assistance can include anything from grants for temporary housing and home repairs to medical and dental expenses.
