Premier Agent Spotlight: Baldwin's company stays true to preservation values
When it was not possible to find a building to house the Boulevard Realty Heights office at 1545 Heights Blvd., a new structure was built to fit with the aesthetics of the surrounding area, even though the area was not a historic district at that time. While working in the Houston real estate market since 1998, Baldwin has found that historic neighborhoods lend themselves to being great communities because of the common history and style they share. The City's Historic Preservation Ordinance regulates changes to architectural features on historic homes and landmarks in the city's 21 Historic Districts as well as preventing the demolition of historic properties. "[...] no one in the protected districts is allowed to demolish a historic structure, change the appearance of their property through renovation, or build a new home without the approval of the HAHC," Baldwin said.
