Serena Williams Lands April Vogue Cover, Shows It Off Poolside
We’ll admit it: If we ever were on the cover of Vogue, you best believe that we’d be holding it up next to our faces on the subway, in checkout lines, on the beach and in large, crowded spaces. (Then we’d act shocked and humbled whenever anyone said, “Hey, aren’t you…?”) It appears Serena Williams relates to at least that first impulse as well, because the minute she got her hands on the April issue, she couldn’t wait to crack it open poolside and share a snap on Instagram.

“Vogue.” she titled the shot, simply, though Vogue called it a “cover girl moment” when they regrammed her shot. It’s Williams’s second U.S. Vogue cover, but her first solo one (she shared the cover with Ryan Lochte and Hope Solo for an Olympics-themed moment in 2012) and — as you may have guessed from the clean, unadorned shot that allows Williams’s highly toned physique to take center stage — it’s for the magazine’s annual Shape Issue.
In her Vogue profile, Williams talks about her workout routine, her love of fashion and her friendship with Caroline Wozniacki, and admits to having a softer side. “I feel like I have a desire to be better than ever. I am never, ever, satisfied. I always want to do more, be more, reach a new level. Not just in tennis but in everything I do.”
What do you think of the cover? Do you love that she was snapped reading it?
