Jean-Michel Basquiat is regarded as one of the most influential artists of the late 20th century, and to further honor the iconic figure, art literature publisher Taschen unveils a special commemorative book aptly dubbed, Jean-Michel Basquiat.

Labeled as “the most comprehensive edition to date,” the 500-page XXL-sized hardcover provides a much detailed insight into Basquiat’s art, with reproductions of his most revered paintings, drawings, and notebook sketches, alongside texts by editor Hans Werner Holzwarth, and curator/art historian Eleanor Nairne.

The book’s large scale format, measuring 11.4 inches x 15.6 inches offers an immersive perspective to Basquiat’s marks and scribbled words, while also examining his themes and artistic development in a year-by-year chapter that breaks down the artist’s life and quotes from his own statements.

The release of this book also coincides with an ongoing Jean-Michel Basquiat exhibition held at the Fondation Louis Vuitton in Paris, which is slated to conclude on January 14, 2019.

Availability for Jean-Michel Basquiat begins November and you can pre-order it now via Taschen’s website and select retailers for $200.

Also, in case you missed it, a Jean-Michel Basquiat Broadway musical is in development. Next, here are our favorite fashion books from Taschen.
