It has long been rumored that Kanye West’s adidas YEEZY line has been working on a basketball sneaker. Those rumors intensified when West was seen testing basketball YEEZYs at UCLA in mid-2017 and were later apparently confirmed when the rapper tweeted rough sketches of YEEZY’s 2019 lineup, including a silhouette labeled “basketball.”
Now we might have got our first look at the YEEZY basketball sneaker via Nice Kicks. The sneaker, done up in triple black, looks to feature a Boost midsole covered by the same translucent rubber seen on other adidas models such as the Crazy Explosive. Elsewhere, the high-top upper features suede and leather over- and underlays.
So far, no official word has come from either adidas or West’s camp about the shoe’s release. However, with the rapper having been seen wearing a similar-looking model in a different colorway last year (below), paired with this latest leak, the YEEZY basketball sneaker might finally be on its way in 2019.

With that said, earlier reports suggested a YEEZY Basketball sneaker would hit retail shelves as far back as 2017. At the time, there were rumors that certain athletes, presumably signed to adidas already, would soon hit NBA courts in b-ball YEEZYs. That never happened, of course, although players such as Nick Young have played in non-basketball YEEZYs in the past.
Could 2019 finally be the year we see YEEZY basketball sneakers in the NBA? Leave your thoughts below.
