Design company ecoBirdy is set on paving the way for sustainable and eco-friendly children’s furniture. The European brand has developed a collection made from 100 percent recycled plastic waste fashioned from unused toys.
The plastic waste used to craft the products undergo sorting, cleaning and quality control during the recycling process, meaning its 100 percent safe and above all, child-friendly. Initial pieces include Luisa the Table, Charlie the Chair and Kiwi the Storage container, all of which come in a speckled-like finish on account of the plastic parts.
Antwerp designers Vanessa Yuan and Joris Vanbriel worked on the concept two years prior to its actualization. As per the brand’s website, interest in sustainability and education around environmental responsibilities acted as a catalyst for their research and development.
Check out the first looks of the collection above and be sure to check them out in person at the London Design Fair next month.
Elsewhere, a real-life Kwik-E-Mart from ‘The Simpsons’ is now open for business.
