Retailing at $329 USD, making it the most affordable iPad yet, the versatile tablet boasts the signature Retina display that now incorporates a higher-resolution touch sensor to enable support for Apple Pencil, which was previously compatible with the iPad Pro only.
Inside, the new iPad utilizes an A10 Fusion chip with 64-bit desktop-class architecture, providing 40 percent faster CPU and 50 percent faster graphics performance when compared to the previous generation 9.7-inch iPad. In addition, the front and rear-facing cameras offer exceptional low-light performance and HD video recording for document scanning, moviemaking and FaceTime calls.
Additionally, one of the main selling points for the new iPad is augmented reality, as its advanced Retina display, upgraded chip, enhanced cameras, and sensors with a gyroscope and accelerometer, were built for mobility and durability for students, while flaunting a lightweight aluminum unibody construction.
Furthermore, the implementation of Apple Pencil support (sold separately $99 USD), provides a “fluid and natural” drawing experience with sensors that measure pressure and tilt so that users can take notes or illustrate in various apps.
Offered in colors of silver, space gray and a new gold finish, the new 9.7-inch iPad starts at $329 USD for the 32GB Wi-Fi model and $459 USD for its 32GB Wi-Fi + Cellular counterpart, and it’s now available to purchase at Apple’s online store, as well as authorized retailers, while it will be arriving in stores later this week.
In addition, schools will be able to purchase the new iPad at a discounted price of $299 USD and the Apple Pencil for $89 USD.
