Royal Navy boots out conman who swindled thousands from Premier League fans

A disgraced sailor has been booted out of the Royal Navy and jailed for a year after conning football fans out of nearly £7,000.
John Bayne sent pictures of his Navy ID badge to victims to ‘reassure’ them he was not cheating them, before taking payment for tickets he didn’t have.

A court heard how he sent messages through Facebook and Twitter to fans looking for Premier League tickets.
