George Clooney is apparently a friend that we all need. A story has recently surfaced detailing how the famed actor once gifted 14 of his closest pals $1 million USD, each.
Clooney reportedly invited the group of friends over to his house, as he then gave each of them a briefcase filled with $1 million USD in $20 USD bills, on top of paying their taxes for the year.
Rande Gerber, Clooney’s friend and Casamigos partner, told the story on MSNBC’s Headliners just yesterday.
“There’s a group of guys we call ‘The Boys,'” Gerber noted. “George had called me and ‘The Boys’ and said, ‘Hey, mark September 27th, 2013, on your calendar. Everyone’s going to come to my house for dinner.'”
Per Gerber, these friends included both wealthy and not-so alike.
In thinking back on the story, Gerber remembered the 56-year-old actor telling “The Boys,” “I came to L.A., I slept on your couch. I’m so fortunate in my life to have all of you and I couldn’t be where I am today without all of you. So, it was really important to me that while we’re still all here together, that I give back.”
It really must be great being friends with George Clooney, especially during this time of year. We can only imagine what his holiday gifts are like.
