KAWS Discusses Working in New York City and How He Linked Up With Pharrell & A Bathing Ape
In the most recent episode of Blueprint, Complex and Noah Callahan-Beaver caught up with New York-based artist KAWS to discuss his influences, practices, and upcoming plans. The New Jersey-born pop-artist has undertaken huge collaborative projects over the years including a Uniqlo x Peanuts capsule, Air Jordan designs, hooking up with Nigo from A Bathing Ape and Pharrell.
Working across several media including, paint, illustration, graffiti, and graphic design, KAWS has built a huge following with his multicolor, life-size pieces and infamous character, Doug. In the video above, he details his early influences, how he landed his now sold-out capsules and the influences behind his much-loved and recognized motifs.
