The first big shopping weekend of the holiday season always features the Harvest Festival, which opens Black Friday, Nov. 24, at the San Jose Convention Center and runs through Sunday, Nov. 26.

This year’s event is the 40th annual.

Hundreds of vendors will offer jewelry, clothing, fine art, specialty foods, toys and more. Plus, there’s live entertainment (Le Jazz Hot Quartet, comedian John Park), artisan demos, a food court and children’s activities.

Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at 150 W. San Carlos St. Admission runs $9 adults, $7 seniors, $4 teens and free for 12 and under. One ticket is good for all three days (make sure to ask for a stamp at the door). Find $2 discount coupons in the Bay Area News Group papers and on the KGO, KRTY, KBLX and KOIT websites.
