Florida officials met with heralded coach Chip Kelly on Sunday, but returned to Gainesville without an agreement to hire him, Robbie Andreu of the Gainesville Sun reports, citing a source.

The Gators are known to be seeking a coach that can breathe life into their long-suffering offense, and the innovative Kelly would fit the bill as well as any candidate in the nation.

UCLA, which fired Jim Mora on Sunday, is rumored to have Kelly atop its wishlist as well, but as of Sunday night, there was no indication he has spoken with Bruins brass. After initially reporting that Kelly planned to meet with UCLA, Andreu clarified that the Pac-12 school simply appears to be a possibility for Kelly as he weighs his options for getting back into coaching.

Kelly, who's currently working as an analyst for ESPN, led Oregon to a 46-7 record from 2009-12 in his only four seasons as a college head coach.
