Tim Costello says MPs who will make decisions on gambling legislation should not attend races as industry guests

Tim Costello has criticised politicians who accept invitations to gambling marquees at the Melbourne Cup and related events while also considering legislation to restrict gambling.

The spokesman for the Alliance for Gambling Reform criticised the link between politicians and the industry as gambling companies sent thousands of unsolicited text messages and took out sponsored advertising on social media encouraging people to gamble on the Cup.
