Auburn dismissed former starting quarterback Sean White from the program, a source told Matt Zenitz of AL.com.

White was arrested Sunday morning on a public intoxication charge. He also missed the first two games of the season due to a suspension for undisclosed reasons.

A junior, White was expected to serve as the primary backup quarterback this season after he lost the starting battle to ex-Baylor transfer Jarrett Stidham in fall camp. He said before the season he was "mentally prepared" for Stidham - who was heavily recruited by Auburn - to take over the job.

White started 16 games over the past two seasons, including 10 in 2016, and appeared to come into his own last year before injuries stalled his progress. He recorded 1,679 yards with nine touchdowns and three interceptions last season, while his 63.9 completion percentage led the SEC.
