Greg Schiano calling Ohio State's defensive line the best he's ever coached is a bold statement, but it becomes even bolder when you think of the Buckeyes defensive coordinator's coaching history.

Schiano made those comments on the Big Ten Network on Saturday, and keep in mind, he previously coached the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and perennial Pro Bowler Gerald McCoy.

"It is, and that’s not a joke," Schiano said. "We had a great player in Tampa in Gerald McCoy. Tremendous player, but that was one guy. I go back to my days in Miami in ’99 and 2000 and this is clearly a better group."

This group is certainly not short on talent, with Nick Bosa, Tyquan Lewis, and Sam Hubbard anchoring the unit, but it may be a stretch calling it better than one from the NFL.

The comments are perhaps a way for Schiano to set expectations for his defensive line in 2017, and now its members just have to back up their coordinator's words.
