Texas Senate approves new curbs on synthetic drugs


AUSTIN - Synthetic drugs blamed for causing deaths and injuries in Houston and other Texas cities would become controlled substances and could no longer be sold openly under legislation approved Tuesday by the state Senate. A San Antonio police officer testified at a Senate Committee hearing how homeless Texans are using the substances, and medical officials from Denton and Lubbock said emergency rooms there are seeing an increasing flood of victims.
