A doctor suspected of being under the influence while practicing medicine was arrested by the Riverside Police Department on Thursday, Feb. 20.

Dr. Keith Curtis, 52, of Riverside, left his office Thursday and was later stopped by detectives, police said in a Wednesday statement.

Around 28 grams of methamphetamine was found in his possession, Riverside police said. Detectives and investigators searched his office and found an illegal drug pipe and a shotgun.

“They also located the upper receiver of an AR-15 style rifle and ammunition in another office used by Dr. Curtis,” officials said. “During a search of his home, detectives located additional suspected methamphetamine and firearms.”

Police said Curtis admitted to using illegal narcotics while working at his medical practice. Curtis was arrested and booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center on suspicion of possession of illegal narcotics, suspicion of being under the influence of illegal narcotics and being a prohibited person from owning or possessing firearms due to drug addiction.

Curtis was released from jail on $10,000 bail on Friday.
