Gigi Hadid Shares Pics From Her Visit To Senegal With UNICEF
Gigi Hadid lets out a big laugh while playing with a young child during her recent visit to Senegal, Africa with UNICEF.
The 24-year-old model’s visit focused on UNICEF’s core programmatic areas including protection, adolescent empowerment, education and water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH).
Gigi first traveled to Dakar for a visit at La Maison Rose, a UNICEF-supported shelter for girls and women in need of safety, before heading to Kolda, a city in the south of Senegal, to visit pre- and primary schools where UNICEF is working to combat drop-out rates both in the city and in surrounding villages.
“The young women I met at the youth center reminded me that the most powerful tool we all have is our voice,” Gigi shared. “Whether we are asking for help or using it to spread awareness, one voice, one story, can change the lives of many.”
One of her last visits was to a village on the Guinea-Biassu border that has successfully completed the Community Lead Total Sanitation program.
“Having traveled through Senegal to reach the town of Kolda, I was able to further understand the work that UNICEF is doing each and every day across the globe,” Gigi adds. “Even in the hardest to reach places, UNICEF is using innovation, technology and community-led interventions to give every child the opportunity to thrive.”
Gigi is also pictured arriving back to her apartment in New York City on Monday night (December 16).
FYI: Gigi is wearing a Polo Ralph Lauren suit with an UNOde50 necklace.
