Today global retail powerhouse Sneakersnstuff officially unveiled its new Tokyo store, sharing imagery of the space located in the Daikanyama district of Japan’s capital.

The store’s interior is similar to Sneakersnstuff’s other stores worldwide in that it is influenced by the city, culture, and neighborhood it is in, with a mix of Swedish and Scandinavian heritage and design. Bofink Design Studio’s Jenny Askenfors teamed up with SNS to design and build the store, which is now the retailer’s seventh location following Stockholm, London, Berlin, Paris, New York, and Los Angeles.

Speaking to Highsnobiety, Sneakersnstuff co-founders Erik Fagerlind and Peter Jansson explain why they chose Tokyo as the next expansion city. “Few cities have inspired us as much as Tokyo has. The level of details, and the way the city connects rich heritage with the future is amazing,” says Erik, before Peter adds: “We have a humble global takeover plan and Asia is part of that. Tokyo is our favorite city in Asia, if not the world.”

Highlights in the store include a custom SNS chair made by Artek that uses M90 camo for the seats, a one-of-a-kind, hand-carved wood sofa featuring sneaker detailing, and Nike Swoosh display tables. The store is split into two parts: a traditional building and a modern building. In the traditional building everything is made by hand, while the modern building’s interior is self-explanatory.

“What’s special about SNS Tokyo is that is actually three buildings. Two will act as stores, showroom, spaces for story telling – and the third is a restaurant that also will host workshops and events tied in to our world as well as being the gift shop of SNS Center of Culture Tokyo,“ Erik says, explaining how the store is set up.

The SNS Café is meant to be a place for people to hang out and enjoy food and drink, regardless of whether or not they are shopping at the store.

The opening of the store will be on December 14 and will be celebrated with SNS Tokyo-exclusive product, as Peter tells us. If you’re not in Tokyo and unable to attend the store’s opening on December 14, check out some exclusive imagery of the spaces above.
