Ralph Lauren is releasing a new selection of Polo Bear watches. Available in three variations, each Bear represents a different facet of Ralph Lauren’s signature style.
The Bedford Bear ($1,950), offered with a silk tie strap or tan leather strap, draws from Ralph Lauren’s English-inspired New York manor. “I was going to live in England, but then I bought Bedford and turned it into my vision of England—but filled with American energy,” says the designer.
Next up is the Denim Flag Bear ($1,950), which references Lauren’s appreciation for well-worn workshirts and utility jackets. “They seemed to have already lived—they had a history, a truth about them,” he states.
Furthermore, the Denim Flag Bear watch, available with distressed denim or leather straps, is inspired by a 1989 advertisement in which the designer wore a denim jacket with jeans and the Polo flag sweater at his Colorado ranch.
Lastly, the Tuxedo Bear ($2,150) pulls from Lauren’s signature combination of a double-breasted dinner jacket with denim and steel-tipped boots. “I have always loved contradiction, blending a tuxedo jacket with a pair of jeans and boots,” he says. This particular watch comes with a black alligator strap.
Each of Ralph Lauren’s Polo Bear watches features a stainless steel round case with an exhibition case back. They are powered by an automatic, Swiss-made, caliber RL200 movement, with an approximate 38-hour power reserve. A launch is scheduled for November 15.
