Marine Serre FW19 Is Athleisure for the Post-Apocalypse

Before fashion, Marine Serre intended to become a professional tennis player. Selfish we know, but we’re glad it was on the runway and not the court where Marine really found her flair. Boasting work experience at the impressively-prestigious Paris trio of Maison Margiela, Dior, and Balenciaga, her design prowess perhaps comes as no real surprise. Marine’s latest collection, which channels her sporting past while looking towards our uncertain future, recently hit luxury retailer SSENSE and is available to shop now.

Titled “Radiation”, Marine’s latest eponymous drop is a response to the climate crisis, packing apparel fit for post-apocolpyse times. The anti-pollution mask features genuine R-PUR ® filtration technology, while the “Airblast” sunglasses look apt for a stroll across a desolate landscape. Serre not only draws attention to the climate issue but her label is active in making a change too, with at least 50 percent of garments upcycled.

Though we’re sure she doesn’t rue the alternative path her life took, Marine’s tennis-playing past is referenced throughout her pieces. The crescent moon headbands , as well as items like the second skin jersey, would be just as at home on a Parisian tennis court as they would a German techno club in 2067.
