Lana Del Rey Drops Two New Songs, “Looking for America” & “Season of the Witch”
The first is a full cover of Donovan’s classic 1966 song “Season of the Witch,” which was recorded for the Guillermo del Toro-produced movie Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark. Produced by Jack Antonoff, the 34-year-old singer flexes her signature jazzy vocals to put a new spin on the psychedelic-rock tune.
The other song released today, is called “Looking for America,” an anti-gun track written and recorded in response to the recent series of shootings in the U.S.
In an Instagram post sharing the single, Del Rey opens up about the ongoing issue in America saying, “Now I know I’m not a politician and I’m not trying to be so excuse me for having an opinion — but in light of all of the mass shootings and the back to back shootings in the last couple of days which really affected me on a cellular level I just wanted to post this video.” She and collaborator Jack Antonoff perform the song, which includes the lines, “I’m still looking for my own version of America/ One without the gun, where the flag can freely fly/ No bombs in the sky/ Only fireworks when you and I collide/ It’s just a dream I had in mind.”
