The Nike Swoosh is easily one of the most recognizable logos in the world. In celebration of the evolution of the Swoosh, Nike is releasing three new sneaker packs alongside Foot Locker, Inc., featuring the Air Force 1, Air Max 97, Air Max Plus, and React Element 55.
Nike’s Swoosh logo was drawn by graphic design student Carolyn Davidson in 1971. It was reworked numerous times in the years following, showcased in everything from the single Swoosh to the famous Futura logo lockup. This new issue of footwear packs, collected under “The Evolution of the Swoosh,” ultimately serves to honor the graphic design legacy of the iconic logo.
First up, the Script Swoosh Pack overlays Davidson’s hand-drawn Swoosh on the Air Force 1, Air Max 97, Air Max Plus, and React Element 55. Available in men’s and children’s sizes, the sneakers are scheduled to release on August 10.
The Sunburst Pack is a nod to the Sunburst logo that was developed in 1972 to bring the single Swoosh to apparel offerings. The motif features a circular design, allowing team names to be arched over it. Here, we find the Sunburst logo on the Air Force 1, Air Max 97, Air Max Plus, and React Element 55, launching August 31 for men.
Lastly, the Swoosh Chain Pack makes use of an interlinking Swoosh logo originally designed for tracksuits and garments with similar taping. This particular capsule is exclusively for kids, as the Air Force 1, Air Max 97, and Air Max Plus boast ’70s color schemes. The sneakers are scheduled to drop on August 17.
Each one of Nike’s “The Evolution of the Swoosh” packs releases from Foot Locker, Champs Sports, Eastbay, and Footaction.
