David Fincher’s thriller Mindhunter is returning to Netflix August 18. The second season, like the first, explores the disturbing pattern of murders that took place during the ’70s. It picks up with fictional FBI investigators, Holden Ford (Jonathan Groff) and Bill Tench (Holt McCallany) as they interview serial killers before the term had yet come into use.

Back in 2017, Fincher told Billboard that for the next season, “we’re looking at the Atlanta child murders, so we’ll have a lot more African-American music which will be nice. The music will evolve. It’s intended to support what’s happening with the show and for the show to evolve radically between seasons.” It will be a little shorter than the first, with eight episodes making up the season.
