Brand: Nike

Model: Air Max 1 “Sketch to Shelf”

Key Features: The pack comes in two colorways: 1987 white/red and an all-white leather version with black “drawing board”-style details. The white/red colorway takes the pack’s theme to heart, with all of the detailing looking like it has been “sketched” onto a plain white upper. The Nike branding on the tongue, insole, and heel looks as if it has been drawn on, while the red and gray color-blocking looks colored on with a marker. The white version features black markings and measurements that mimic those that would have been on original designs and mockups.

Release Date: July 13

Price: ¥15,000 (approximately $140)

Buy: Select retailers such as atmos

Editor’s Notes: Nike is gearing up to release a “Sketch to Shelf” Air Max 1 pack via select retailers such as Japan’s atmos. Both colorways in the pack reference Tinker Hatfield’s design process when he was putting together the Air Max 1 prior to its release in 1987.

Over the past year, Nike has released sneakers that are either prototypes or early designs of Hatfield sneakers, and this pack plays with that theme even further. Previous examples include the Swoosh-clad Nike Air Jordan 3 “Tinker.”
