Sephora to Close for Diversity Training Day After SZA Reveals Racial Profiling
Sephora will close its US stores, distribution centers, and corporate offices this Wednesday to conduct diversity training. The action comes after SZA revealed she was racially profiled at an outpost of the LVMH beauty chain in April.
On May 1, the Grammy-nominated singer tweeted that an employee called security to “make sure I wasn’t stealing.”
Lmao Sandy Sephora location 614 Calabasas called security to make sure I wasn’t stealing . We had a long talk. U have a blessed day Sandy

Sephora initially responded to the incident by stating, “You are a part of the Sephora family, and we are committed to ensuring every member of our community feels welcome and included at our stores.” Business of Fashion reports that following the singer’s tweet, “Google reviews for the store spiked, with many users criticizing Sephora over the incident.”
LVMH has been enjoying positive press lately after Rihanna announced her joint venture with the label. Her Fenty collection in partnership with LVMH made her the first black woman to lead a major luxury fashion house.
The company has not drawn a connection between the incident with SZA or the training, instead stating that the workshops reflect values that have always been at the heart of Sephora.
