The Merriam-Webster Dictionary has officially recognized Eminem‘s lyrical clout by adding not one but two definitions of the word “stan” to the dictionary and citing the rapper’s 2000 track of the same name, Pitchfork reports.
The word is categorized as slang and Merriam-Webster Dictionary’s two definitions depend on whether stan is used as a noun — “an extremely or excessively enthusiastic and devoted fan” — or a verb — “to exhibit fandom to an extreme or excessive degree” or “to be an extremely devoted and enthusiastic fan of someone or something.”

The move comes two years after the Oxford English Dictionary added the term to their lexicon.
