Earlier this week Apple debuted new iPads, iMacs and AirPods, as we now have additional news surrounding the tech juggernaut. Multiple sources are reporting that Apple’s previously previewed AirPower charging mat may finally be releasing after all.
Apple announced the AirPower back in 2017 at the same time the company introduced the iPhone X and iPhone 8. According to the Cupertino-based outfit, the charging mat will charge an iPhone, AirPods and Apple Watch simultaneously. Since the reveal, Apple has yet to speak on the AirPower, leaving us wondering if it is still on the way.
This week Twitter user @michael8bateman stumbled upon a new picture of the AirPower featured on Apple’s Australian website. The photo shows an iPhone XS and an AirPods case charging on the pad. Again, Apple initially reported that the charging mat would also hold an Apple Watch, but that is not shown in this particular image.
According to Apple Insider, support for the AirPower is included in iOS 12.2 beta 6, further hinting at a release for the charger. The website also notes that it makes sense for Apple to announce the AirPower during next week’s press event on March 25, although the company is expected to focus on its new video streaming service and paid Apple News subscriptions.
Nonetheless, signs are pointing to a release for Apple’s AirPower charging mat in the near future, but you’ll have to stay tuned for confirmed info.
