In the new age of strokes-gained data and advanced analytics on the golf course, Tiger Woods keeps it simple by looking at only one number.

"Wins," he said during his Players Championship press conference when asked which statistics he pays attention to.

Tiger collected his 80th career PGA Tour win at last year's Tour Championship, putting him two behind Sam Snead's all-time record. He also moved seven ahead of Jack Nicklaus, a fact he was quick to point out when asked to compare his accomplishments to those of his childhood idol.

"Yeah, there's that," he said, admitting Nicklaus has him beat 18-14 in major victories. "And I've got 80 and he doesn't."

Nicklaus also has three Players Championship titles to his name, one more than Woods. But with the neck strain that forced the 43-year-old to miss last week's Arnold Palmer Invitational now a thing of the past, Tiger is focused on adding the new golden Players trophy to his collection.

"I have two crystal ones at home," he said, referencing the old hardware awarded at TPC Sawgrass. "And this would be nice to add to it."
