While John Elliott‘s New York Fashion Week FW19 show revealed new collaborations with Nike and Caterpillar, the designer’s custom-made Nike Air Force 1-inspired car tires ended up being one of the show’s biggest talking points.
Unveiled in collaboration with Lexus, Elliott outfitted the Japanese carmaker’s new UX model with tires inspired by his own Air Force 1 collaboration. The John Elliott x Nike Air Force 1, which dropped in October 2018, used a layering technique to create the illusion of color through shadows.
The same technique was applied to the new tires, which look like they’re straight out of the future and could easily have been the tires of choice in Tron: Legacy. Check out images of the sneaker-inspired tires above.
