Chiefs wary of Patriots adopting underdog mentality


The New England Patriots enter Sunday’s AFC Championship Game showdown against the Kansas City Chiefs as postseason underdogs, certainly unfamiliar territory for the team. While the Patriots appear to be embracing an underdog mentality — see Tom Brady’s “everyone thinks we suck” comments and Julian Edelman’s “Bet Against Us” t-shirts (below) as evidence — the Chiefs are not about to get caught up in all the noise. Heading into Sunday’s game, the Chiefs currently sit as three-point favorites, and the team — from head coach Andy Reid to leaders like Travis Kelce and Justin Houston — are not about to allow overconfidence to seep in, especially against such an accomplished squad the dynastic Patriots are bringing to Arrowhead Stadium.
