The Only Thing More Bonkers Than HMLTD’s “Flex” Is Its Video

The closest descriptor we could possibly bestow on HMLTD would be ‘neo art school dark wave boy band,’ but even that fails to capture the essence of this bonkers 6-piece outfit from London. And when it comes to describing the visual for their single “Flex” featuring featuring Xvoto Delete, we may as well give up on words entirely (though ‘deep web fetish Renaissance hunters’ springs to mind). Take a look at the premiere of the group’s immersive new video, directed by Jack Ashley, above.

Speaking on the track, which boasts production from Sampha and The xx-collaborator Rodaidh Mcdonald, HMLTD told Highsnobiety in an email that “Some people might try and tell you that ‘Flex’ is a song about fragile masculinity, but HMLTD say it’s really just about sex, diamonds and female bodybuilders.”

Solidifying their avant-garde status, HMLTD will be supporting Nine Inch Nails on tour this year from November 30, with their first American headline show hitting LA on December 6. In the meantime, revisit their debut EP Hate Music Last Time Delete below via Spotify.
