Video: Santa Clara firefighter arrested in connection to killing dog


NAPA (KRON) — A Santa Clara firefighter is accused of animal cruelty after allegedly admitting to police he killed a puppy.

The firefighter lives in Napa, where neighbors told KRON the abuse went on for months.

Police arrested the 31-year-old man Wednesday morning in Napa on suspicion of cruelty to an animal. Officers arrested Nicholas Luiz at about 8:30 a.m. in the 1100 block of Massa Drive after they found his dog dead at his home.

Officers responded at about 11:45 p.m. Tuesday to Luiz’s home and no one answered the door, according to police.

Witnesses reported Luiz had been abusing his five-month-old German Shepherd for months and the dog was thought to be dead in the backyard, police said.Officers booked Luiz into
