The intensifying storm streak in the UK just won't stop

While the United States' East Coast has yet to see a major winter storm so far this year, the UK keeps getting socked by one strong storm after the next

This week is no exception. Another storm system is rapidly intensifying northwest of Ireland, causing cold, damaging winds of greater than 75 miles per hour at times across the northern UK and Ireland

The storm may also lead to several inches of snow, especially at higher elevations in northern Scotland and western England, although some snowflakes are not out of the question even in London on Wednesday and Thursday. Unlike other recent weather systems, the latest storm is coming closer to the UK and Irish mainland, which heightens the likely impacts.
