Eight League of Legends teams have made it through the group stage of Worlds 2016, and North America is down to its final hope: Cloud9.
The top two teams from each group of four qualified for the quarterfinals, including all three South Korean teams Samsung Galaxy, SK Telecom T1 and ROX Tigers; Chinese teams Edward Gaming and Royal Never Give Up; European team H2K Gaming; North American team Cloud9; and Russian wildcard team Albus Nox Luna.
North America's other contenders, Team SoloMid and Counter Logic Gaming, placed first and fourth in the region respectively but were unable to pull through in their groups. TSM traded wins with top team Samsung Galaxy and lost twice to Royal Never Give Up, the second match knocking TSM out of the tournament in a 36-minute stomp. CLG lost twice to wildcard Albus Nox Luna and was knocked out following a loss to ROX Tigers.
