It would be “a really good result” if Britain ends up taking only 300 lone child refugees from the camp in Calais, the home secretary, Amber Rudd, has said.

Her comment ahead of the expected demolition of the Calais refugee camp next week is likely to disappoint campaigners fighting for the future of 387 children who have a legal right to come to the UK and whose details have been passed to the Home Office.
