T-Mobile & Verizon Halt Sales Of The Galaxy Note 7
It has been widely reported over the past few days that multiple new and purportedly “safe” Samsung Galaxy Note 7 units have been catching on fire and in most of the cases, the device was not being charged or even being used at the time the incident occurred. With that, two other major US carriers, T-Mobile and Verizon, have both officially announced, that the carriers will be temporarily suspending all sales and will stop issuing replacement units of the Galaxy Note 7. This news comes after AT&T officially halted sales of Galaxy Note 7 units.
T-Mobile customers who own a Galaxy Note 7 device can head over to any T-Mobile store for a full refund and choose any device from T-Mobile’s list of available devices to replace their Galaxy Note 7. This applies to any T-Mobile customer who owns a recalled Galaxy Note 7, or the new replacement unit. The US carrier will also be waiving any restocking fees, and customers who purchased the Galaxy Note 7 during the pre-order period will be allowed to keep the free Netflix subscription and free Samsung Gear Fit or SD card they received. On top of that, anyone who returns their recalled Galaxy Note 7 to T-Mobile, will be given a one-time $25 credit on their T-Mobile bill, which will show up within two bill cycles. Verizon on the other hand, has stated that if any Verizon customer is concerned about the safety of their replacement Galaxy Note 7 unit, may bring it to the original point of purchase to exchange it for another smartphone. Verizon customers who purchased the device online, may head over to Verizon stores to exchange it for a different smartphone as well.
Samsung is in the midst of investigating the fires which were caused by the Galaxy Note 7 but the electronics manufacturer has yet to issue a second recall for the device. In the meantime, it is best to turn off your Galaxy Note 7, be it a recalled unit or a replacement unit, and head over to your point of purchase to obtain a refund. All major carriers in the US will exchange the Galaxy Note 7 for a different smartphone, regardless of purchase date.
