Podesta: Trump didn't deserve a handshake
Donald Trump’s behavior in recent days didn’t “really deserve the respect of a handshake at the beginning” of the debate, campaign chair John Podesta said.
“She did shake his hand at the end,” Podesta told CNN after the debate. “I think he came in tonight and even walked back whatever bit of an apology he gave for the Access Hollywood tape that every American has seen over and over again.”
Trump appeared to play to his base, Podesta said, while Clinton tried to appeal to all voters.
“I think what she wanted to accomplish was to say, ‘I want to be a president for everyone and I want to have you listen to me with a positive message, the optimistic view of what America can be.' In contrast, I think he was dark and divisive again."
