Google Begins Sending Out Oct. 4th Event Invites
Google has officially begun sending out invites for an event to be held in San Francisco on October 4th, more or less confirming that the rumored dates of the unveiling for the upcoming Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones will be on this day. Although this is not an exact confirmation as Google does not mention what the event is for, the most logical explanation would be for the two new devices which have been the subject of rumors since the beginning of the year. The official invites are following a teaser video and website that have gone live recently in relation to the event happening that day, as well as a slew of leaks over the weekend and today surrounding the Pixel and Pixel XL
In regards to the “made by Google” website visitors have the opportunity to enter their email so they can receive a notification on the event, and just above that is a rolling playlist of images that are housed in the shape of a phone, so that coupled with the invite and previous rumors is a heavy suggestion that October 4th will be the day Google announces their latest smartphones. Other than the actual date of the event, the only other details Google has given in the invite is that the doors for the event open at 8am PST and a presentation will start an hour later at 9am PST, and that it will be held at 891 Beach Street.
While Google has been quiet on what they’re showing off on October 4th, it’s been rumored that alongside the new Pixel and Pixel XL, the company would also be unveiling their first Daydream VR headset and a brand-new Chromecast that includes support for 4K content. It’s also quite possible that Google could end up launching or at the very least show off a working Google Home unit, as their smart speaker was officially announced back during Google I/O which was in the beginning of the Summer. With invites now official, all that’s left is for Google showcase their latest products, and tell everyone when they can buy them and how much they’ll cost.
