The LEGO Movie was a huge hit at the box office last year, charming adults and children alike—Warner Bros. Pictures has recently released a short film titled Creating the Bricks that gives fans a behind-the-scenes look at how this animated movie was made.

Featuring engaging interviews with the team that worked on the film, including directors Chris Miller and Phil Lord, this 4-minute-long video shows the hard work that went into creating a world that looks just like “a LEGO set comes to life”.

According to CG Supervisor Aidan Sarsfield, the team built a system that utilises real LEGO bricks, which means that the movie “is not a cheat”, as whatever is seen on screen are “100% LEGO blocks”.

Watch the video below to find out more about the CG and brickwork magic that goes on off-screen during the making of The LEGO Movie.
