BLU Products STUDIO 60 LTE 1

In days long past, the term “budget friendly” had some awful connotations. Unknown OEMs crafted products that were of questionable quality and content which, although they had a low price point, came with little reassurance they wouldn’t last more than a few months, let alone receive a software update. In modern times, however, we have devices like the Moto G and Moto E, and even smaller manufacturers have stepped up their game.

American OEM, BLU Products, has just announced three new perfectly priced products that further the efforts of manufacturing for those not looking to break the bank, yet still have something nice. Called the Studio LTE Series, the devices are all sold contract-free via Amazon.

The Studio 6.0 LTE

The Studio 6.0 LTE is a Phablet designed to compete with the offerings from companies like Huawei. The device features a 6 inch, 1080p resolution display, 1.6GHz Snapdragon 400 Quad Core CPU, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of on-board storage (which can be increased to 64GB with Micro SD), a 13 megapixel rear camera and a 5mp front.

The device, available in either black of white variants, will run Android 4.4 and retail for a very fine $279.

Studio 5.0 HD LTE

The Studio 5.0 HD LTE has somewhat downgraded specs, with a 5 inch 720 X 1280 IPS display of 720p resolution, a Snapdragon 400 1.2GHz Quad Core processor, 1GB of RAM, and just 8GB of storage (also expandable to 64). It features the same camera setup as its big brother, along with Kitkat, and is available in either black or white.

The Studio 5.0 has very similar specs to the Moto G (2nd gen), plus brings the inclusion of 4G LTE, and is priced at a reasonable $199.

Studio Mini LTE

The Studio Mini is the most demure, with a 4.5 inch 480 X 854 IPS (218ppi) screen, 1.2GHz Snapdragon 400 Quad Core CPU, 1GB of RAM, a 5 megapixel rear camera and 0.3 megapixel front camera. It will be sold in six colors, and comes with Android 4.2.2, “upgradable to Kit Kat”. The asking price is just $119.00.

In terms of connectivity, both the 6.0 and 5.0 inch variants will only support LTE connectivity on T-Mobile (including Metro PCS and other services which use its network), however the Mini will work on all US GSM networks, with AT&T also clearly specified by the OEM,and supports LTE bands 4, 7, and 17.

Why it is that the Mini is only running Jelly Bean is somewhat of a mystery, as is the time frame when the “upgradable” Kitkat firmware will hit. All in all however, the ability to have LTE speeds on three very reasonably priced devices is a fantastic opportunity for customers.

We see an increased demand in 4G LTE as consumers demand higher speeds and better user experience, coupled with a new push from the carriers to get aggressive on LTE pricing in order to migrate existing 3G users to LTE...As always, BLU will be there to deliver on the consumer demand with quality LTE devices priced for everyone.
